This summer has seen great improvements in our Orange Food Pantry’s refrigeration capacity. With more refrigeration, we are able to better store the produce we receive from the Food Bank of Western MA, donations from local grocery stores and donations from local farmers and gardeners. This means we are able to provide more fresh fruits and vegetables for the nearly 1000 families who depend on the Orange Food Pantry to put food on their kitchen tables.
The new refrigeration equipment comes from grants from Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts and North Central Massachusetts and the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts. Representatives of these agencies paid visits to the Orange Food Pantry in July and August including Sheila Toto of Community Foundation of Western MA, Linda Mack of Community Foundation of North Central MA, and Christina Maxwell of the Food Bank of Western MA. We were also visited by Clare Higgins of Community Action Pioneer Valley which provides much needed operation support of the Pantry.
We are very appreciative of the capacity building grants that have improved the Orange Food Pantry!
